"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich."

I like this quote, and loved the idea that it came form old Abe. Unfortunately, when I checked around to verify it, I found another site that says this is one of the many quotes mistakenly attributed to Lincoln. That site is http://www.illinoishistory.gov/facsimiles.htm

Thanks for letting me know. There is another quote that I'm not sure of (I didn't quote it here but have heard it a lot), and I've tried verifying it, but couldn't an original source. THe quote is, "Love God and do what you want", and is attributed to St. Augustine of Hippo, but I have also see people quote it as Calvin, and Luther... anyway, I'd love to find where Augustine originally said that if he did.
